Gry Kolås started her music career in a school wind band playing the clarinet, later she moved alto saxophone (Selmer Mark VI). After primary school she joined an adult wind band. A highlight from this period was playing in the orchestra of the Saint Olav Drama at Stiklestad, a dramatisation of a famous historic event in Norway performed every summer.
After a long break from playing, she joined a big band in Bergen in 2000.
She has been a member of the Soulmates Band since the start in 2006 playing the saxophone. In addition she does vocals and/or percussion on some of the tunes. From 2008 she plays tenor saxophone Yamaha YTS-475.
